FC 27 Free Kick Glitch: EA Promises Quick Fix

EA SPORTS FC Direct Communication (@EASFCDirect) confirmed on October 13, 2026 that EA is investigating a free-kick exploit in EA SPORTS FC 27 that allows players to score from deep free kicks in specific circumstances, and that a fix is expected within a couple of days. The statement is now tracked on the official FC 27 Trello board.

According to Soccergaming, the exploit lets players score directly from free kicks taken almost anywhere on the pitch, including from inside their own penalty area, and is being abused in FUT Champions and Division Rivals. EA has not shared exact trigger details while the bug is still live, and has not announced compensation for affected players or penalties for abusers.

The free-kick statement landed on the same day as EA wider Launch Feedback Update. In that update, EA listed the following areas as under review or monitoring: manual defending (described as a learning curve rather than a confirmed bug), fullbacks dropping too deep and unintentionally keeping attackers onside, kick-off goals, interceptions by low-rated defenders, low-driven shots near the post, and foul calls.

EA also used the update to confirm that the FUT Champions matchmaking issue from October 9 has been fixed, and that Career Mode transfer fixes shipped in Title Update v1.0.3 (October 2) and v1.0.4 (October 7). Title Update v1.0.4 covered Career Mode, Ultimate Team and The Grounds, with no gameplay tuning changes.

For Pro Clubs players, the most important note from the same window is that Soccergaming reports EA has acknowledged a separate Data Mismatch error in Clubs and is planning a permanent fix for a future title update, with no specific date given. Practical advice for competitive FUT players: if you are mid-run in Champions or Rivals, play your remaining matches after the free-kick fix lands.
