EA Restructures, Vows Full Commitment to FC
EA has published an internal memo titled Building EA's Next Chapter, shared with employees on October 21, 2026. Signed by Chief Studios Officer Cam Weber and Chief Operating Officer David Tinson, the memo sets out three strategic priorities: Deepen Our Core, Expand Our Reach and Transform Our Business.
The portfolio decisions are wide-ranging. EA is closing BioWare and its Edmonton workspace, ending early development on the next Mass Effect project.
In Shooters, EA says it will bring Respawn and DICE together on a future project while continuing to invest in Battlefield and Apex Legends. In action-adventure, the publisher will concentrate on fewer simultaneous large-scale projects while still delivering Marvel's Iron Man and the next Star Wars Jedi game.
In Lifestyle, The Sims' Project Evergreen is being prioritised, Project Lotus is paused, and the skate. studio is being reduced to a smaller team.
For FC players, the key line is explicit. EA writes that EA SPORTS continues to operate from a position of strength and that the company is fully committed to investing in the global growth of the FC franchise and across the full EA SPORTS portfolio.
EA also confirmed two new EA SPORTS projects in development: Project Gridiron, a social-first open-world American football experience, and a return to Fight Night, which is now in pre-production. The memo also names Asia as a region EA wants to reach more effectively under its Expand Our Reach priority.
EA did not disclose layoff figures, said affected employees will be supported in exploring other roles within the company, and promised more detail at a Global Town Hall in November.
