FC 27 to "Let the Game Breathe," EA Says
At gamescom 2026, PCGamesN sat down with EA Sports gameplay leads Kantcho Doskov and Sam Rivera to discuss how FC 27 will be handled after launch. Their message: give the game time to settle.
"If something is broken, if we find there's a mechanic that is not balanced, we will try to wait as much as we can," Rivera explained, adding that the team needs to "let the game breathe." Urgent issues will still be fixed — the team will react "if there's an exploit, for example, if there's a really bad bug that we need to fix." The difference this year is that balance-wise, what players get at launch will not suddenly change after a couple of weeks. Doskov also confirmed the scale of the defensive overhaul: players can no longer rely on AI teammates defending for them, and the interception system was rewritten from scratch to achieve more consistency — work too large to deliver through a mid-cycle patch.
For competitive and Clubs players, this signals a more stable meta in the opening weeks of the season. FC 27 launches September 25, 2026, with early access from September 18.
