WOW VBL Returns With New FC 27 Mode
The WOW Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) is back for the 2026-27 EA SPORTS FC 27 season. The VBL Club Championship by WOW kicked off on 15 October 2026 in the tried-and-tested Showdown mode and runs across five offline knockout rounds ahead of the live final.
The revamped VBL Player Championship by WOW opens on 28 October 2026 with a brand-new in-game mode built inside EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team, where players build a team out of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 players and pick from 36 licensed clubs. The Player Championship in-game mode runs across four fixed periods from late October 2026 through February 2027, with the top 15 each round advancing to the play-offs; the rest of the play-off field is filled by wildcards.
The grand final takes place on 16–17 April 2027 in front of an audience at XPERION Hamburg. Both finalists qualify directly for the FC Pro World Championship in Summer 2027.
Quotes in the official Bundesliga release come from Felix Rentschler (Head of Virtual Bundesliga, Bundesliga) and Monica Dinsmore (Head of Esports, EA). The DFL remains the only league in the world represented by its own bespoke in-game mode in EA SPORTS FC.
