EA Removes Jesús de Miguel From FC 27

EA SPORTS has removed Spanish forward Jesús de Miguel from EA SPORTS FC 27 and frozen the price range of his Ultimate Team items after his death. It is the publisher's established protocol for players who have passed away, and the same approach EA used after Emiliano Sala in 2019 and Diogo Jota in 2025.

The 30-year-old CD Tenerife striker was critically injured on 2 November 2026 in the Segunda División fixture against FC Andorra, when he collided with Equatoguinean goalkeeper Jesús Owono. He was taken to Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, admitted to intensive care and pronounced dead on the morning of 3 November after his neurological condition deteriorated.

The club confirmed his death, Spain's National Police opened an investigation and the Cabildo de Tenerife declared a day of official mourning. Inside the game, EA has taken him out of the CD Tenerife squad, stopped his items from appearing in Ultimate Team packs and left the price ranges of cards already owned by players unchanged.

No cards are confiscated; only the price band stops moving, which removes the chance to trade on the news itself. Anyone starting FC 27 is shown EA's message: "We are saddened by the death of Jesús de Miguel. We send our deepest condolences to his family, to CD Tenerife and to his fans around the world." Clubs and Pro Clubs use the same licensed club data as the rest of FC 27, so CD Tenerife sides in The Grounds will also take the field without him and may need a replacement in the squad. No Pro Clubs rules, matchmaking or The Grounds systems were changed.
